Dutch sailing legend passed away

Cornelis van Rietschoten passed away this tuesday morning. He was 87 years old.

In 1977 he sailed the Withbread round the World race in his yacht Flyer I.  Four years later he particpated again, now with a new yacht Flyer II. Both races were won on handicap and line honours. An incredible accomplishment, even to today’s standards.
