Thirteenth leg. Manaus-Brasilia 1.131 Nm, totalling 6.789 Nm

November 25, 2018

We stayed in the same hotel as in 2011, but this time we had to walk 0,5 Nm to get into our rooms. Bad Wifi connections, which is for us reason No. 1 not to use this hotel (or any other hotel) anymore.

We had a nice dinner during which I used Google Translator.

The cost in shops and the restaurant were high to our surprise. Much higher than in the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam I would say.

Again we saw a/c wrecks close to or even on the tarmac. The beginning of a cemetry?

The handling by Universal was outstanding and the Custom Officers at [Eduardo Gomes] Manaus airport must have had some days off. Lucky we.

At FL290 we could just manage to stay on top of the weather, but not being RVSM approved FL300 was not in reach. Our consumption at FL290 was only Lbs 340 per hour. (Ruud any idea about the cost making our a/c RVSM approved, including yours?).

It was the first time on this trip that I went in the passenger compartment to read an hour in the book ‘a gentleman in Moscow’ my birthday present of Rosalinde. Am afraid that Patrick finished it already.

I made the following two photographs, taken from starboard (1st photo) resp. from port so the a/c maintained her course towards SE.

After we left Manaus Urs made following series of photographs (he is getting better every day)

  1. I must say I prefer the photos from Paramaribo by Sophie!!!
Read a book in the passenger compartment!
And your readership is supposed to believe that?
As little as gentlemen in Moscow!!
    Have another leg!
