Charles Boissevain

January 27, 2010

Charles Boissevain was part of the medical team on the clipper Stad Amsterdam. A ship following the route of Charles Darwin across the globe. On the 11th of November 2009, the journey had brought them to Argentina. It was that night that a car with Charles and two other crew and a friend collided with a truck. One of the crew did not survive the crash and Charles and another were seriously injured and brought to the hospital in critical condition. Fortunately, as time progressed, Charles’ situation stabilized, making it possible for him to be transported back to Holland. He is now back in the hospital where he worked as a surgeon, now however as a patient recuperating from a dramatic brain injury. Charles has shown progress, however there is still a long way to go.

It is unimaginable what Charles but also Jan-Maarten, Alexander and Binske are enduring, and let’s not forget Charles’ grandchildren, close relatives and friends. All of the WINSOME crew wish them strength and Charles a further recovery.
