WINSOME kicks off with the Cervantes Trophy Race

May 3, 2013

This saturday, 104 boats are lining up for the opening race of the RORC domestic offshore racing season, the Cervantes Trophy. Organised by RORC in association with the Société des Régates du Havre and the Royal Yacht Squadron, the Cervantes Trophy race kicks off on Saturday 4th May from the RYS line taking the fleet across the channel to finish in Le Havre. It will be WINSOME’s first race of the season.

It will be a challenging race in many ways. There is a complex weather system over Northern Europe which will most probably keep Harry behind his NASA instruments, guiding WINSOME to Le Havre in a swift manner. Furthermore, Foggy Dew, seems to have left IRC 3 and will be sailing in IRC 4, together with WINSOME. French yachts sail really fast, a fact Foggy Dew has proven many times. To make things worse, this race takes place in her backyard. As a famous Dutch saying goes: a horse that smells the stable…..

We wish WINSOME and her crew all the best, good winds and a safe race.
