Rolex Fastnet Race 2013, day 3

August 13, 2013

Tuesday 08.30h

The first yachts are already berthed in Plymouth (a couple of very fast trimarans) whilst Jolie Brise, a gaff-rigged pilot cutter from 1913 who won the first Fastnet Race in 1925, still has to pass Plymouth on their way to the Irish Sea. A clear statement of how yachts have evolved over the years. Winsome is well into the Irish Sea, making steady progress to Fastnet Rock.

It is an interesting situation as Winsome is momentarily 8th in IRC 4 with Foggy Dew still leading the class. However, Harry and his crew have positioned Winsome on the rhum line and Foggy Dew is a substantial way off, forcing Foggy Dew to sail a larger distance. Wind seems to have gone very light making progress slow. Up to now, it does not look like an HPX race.

Watch the site for more information, Harry wil probably give us an update shortly from on board.
