Returning from the battlefield

January 4, 2009

Very early this morning, Sunday 3 Jan, we arrived in Beauty Point near Georgetown on the Northern Coast of Tasmania. It was a beautifull trip up the River Tamar. The village including the Yacht Club were still deep asleep on Sunday morning at 7am.

Later in the day I met Hans Bosman and we lunched like kings.

The others visited a sort of small Zoo which kept a Platypus [vogelbekzoogdier] and Seahorses [zeepaardjes]. After some glasses of Tasmanian wine, with Hans Bosman visiting Winsome again, we departed at 6pm.

Presently, Monday 4 Jan at 5am, we have covered 60Nm and still have to go some 140Nm to get to the entrance of the bay of Melbourne (never had any idea that Melbourne was that far inland) after which we still have do 30Nm to reach the port of Melbourne.

Robbie booked for Winsome berth C10 at d’Albora Marinas Victoria Harbour so hopefully we will be able to prepare her in two days for her return trip with Sevenstar to Holland.

The weather is good now, clouds but no rain, 15kn of wind from the West so we are heading directly for our waypoint at or outside the entrance to Melbourne.

Our watchsystem is very very luxurious: watches of 2 crew; each watch 2hrs on deck, thereafter 4hrs sleep of which only 2hrs standby or until now sleepby.

Will be continued.
