Winsome Rolex Fastnet Race 2011 – day2

August 16, 2011

You all must have learned about the boats which retired last night. Heavy seas, but not a real problem for Winsome. She seems to like such kind of weather.

The story of Rambler is not a very nice one though all 21 crew are rescued and safe now.

So this message is meant to let you know that we are in good shape and of course happy to be still No 1 on the leader board of IRC4 Class with Pinta-M on our heels and with Iromiquy “only 43 Nm”  behind us. As per our rating system we must arrive about 8 hours ahead of Iromiguy and they are very good sailors under command of Yves Chateau.

One of our crew is ill and he will not be able to take part in the watches anymore since today, but I keep it a secret who it is until we arrive in Plymouth. Perhaps it is me, or if not one of the other 7 crew on board.

I will write another blog later today which will be used to send as well to RORC for their blog and in such way compete for an iPad as price.

Presently everything is looking very good with only 7 hours to go to the Fastnet Rock but we cannot possibly be sure that we will have no damages and that we will do the rest of the race as good as until now.

Next blog to follow soon with more details of life on board.
