Day 6

August 17, 2012

No good news today. We had a bad start and really never recovered from it.

At one moment it looked like we could recover some of the lost ground but then our spinnaker came around the forestay (for the very first time in this regatta) so what we could have won at that point, we lost at that point.

At the end we took a somewhat risky course to the finish by going West of Bramble Bank to enjoy some of the last tide coming out of Southampton. May be we gained something, may be not but the end result will be an 8th place today. Because of this we are falling back from 4th to 6th position in this Cowes Week. Tomorrow, Friday, is the last day and we will have to see if any recovery is possible.

Our dinner with Queen and King Morton was fantastic and we are very sorry that Peter Morton will not helm Winsome in 2013 but his new Salvo. Quite logical. Life can be hard.
