Second day of RYS Members Regatta

July 16, 2017

We had a better day than yesterday, with a gun in each of the two races today. It means we finished as 1-2-3 on the water. In the 1st race 2nd and in the 2nd race 3rd. In spite of these achievements we had scores of 4-5. This was not enough to obtain our targetted 3rd place (4).

It has been quite an experience for me to helm Winsome and I realise and accept that I did not do it as well as Laura. Nevertheless it was a nice experience for me. I even liked it, but I will stick to my navigation hobby which I do still prefer.

We were 1/9 in the Corinthian Division (meaning not any prof on board) in IRC-2 Class; 4/13 in IRC2 Class resp. 6/39 in IRC Overall Class.

The Corinthian Crew consisted of Laura, Boj, Floris, Dirk-Jan Zweers, Geoff Sinton, Peter Morton and Jo Manser i.e. 3 from UK. Crew support was given by Aster, Sue, Allison, Sarah and Sophie.

Our targetted place for the RORC Channel Race next weekend remains 2, in spite of our not reached target 3 in this race. Our total scores since we sail with our new mast are: 5-4-4.

After the RORC Channel we will still sail the Lendy Cowes Week, Rolex Fastnet Race and on my birthday RORC Cowes-Cherbourg Race.

We had a very pleasant weekend!
